The Epic Tales Of King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round...

The legendary tales of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table often don’t explain the true magnificence of Sir Lancelot. Arguably one of the most famous Knights of the Round Table, Sir Lancelot is one of the most well rounded knights as he is chivalrous, selfless, and one of the best fighters in the land thus being an example of what a Knight of the Round Table should be. He is a very excellent fighter, as he has proven to slay even the best of warriors in all of the depictions about him. In addition, he is very charming and chivalrous as a Knight should be according to the commandments they follow. The knights fought and won even when the odds were not in their favor. â€Å"How many times in battle have we snatched victory from the jaws of defeat? Outnumbered, outflanked, but still we triumph? With you at my side, we can do so again. Lancelot, we are knights. What other purpose do we serve if not for such a cause?†-King Arthur (King Arthur). Secondly, Sir Lancelot’s charming and outgoing personality made him the perfect knight and ladies man. Often more than not, Lancelot would say a charming line and be a bit presumptuous. â€Å"I dont know about honor. But I promise you, I wont kiss you again till you ask me to.† (First Knight). Sir Lancelot was displayed physically as a strong captivating young man who damosels would be flooding with love. On top of his chivalry, Lancelot liked to keep the promises he made with any woman. â€Å"I cast me to be there, for as at this time I must ride with this damosel for to save my promise.† (Malroy). Lancelot portrayed what men should be like in today’s society, as people claim chivalry is dead but in the Medieval era, chivalry was born and spread and lost somewhere along the way. Lancelot’s chivalry went a long way as he put his life on the line to prove his love for Lady Guinevere in one of the depictions.
